Zycat A.I for Retribution v1.1 Released !

Grab it here :

Setup (.exe) version : Down
Zipped version : https://rapidshare.com/files/3569208250/Zycat_A.I_1.1.zip

Instructions : Just extract to your Dawn of War II : Retribution folder and run the "Launch ZycatAI.exe" file.

Alternatively you may load it manually using command line.

I think performance took a hit, most noticeable on slower machines. This is normal because I lowered the "reaction time" of the A.I. Let me know if you find some bugs.

Features :
- Better economy.
- Better unit selection.
- Better tactics.
- Better use of player abilities.
- Less chance for setup teams to move around too quickly.
- Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert A.Is have their own personality. No longer is Easy is just an easier Medium or Medium is just an easier Hard. Each difficulty now have their own quirks such as Easy does not capture any points earlier on and Medium going for victory points in the very beginning of the match and rushing the enemy.
- Slightly different rules for different races.
- Different rules for 1v1, Team Games (2v2/3v3), and FFA/Team FFA.

Bugfixes :
- No more spore mines built.
- Heroes switching around wargears all the time (with bought wargears)

Known bugs :
- Can't repair effectively unless somehow the vehicle is parked near a repair-capable squad.
- Can't worship (the game crashes everytime I tried to make cultists worship)
- Can't infiltrate (same case as worshipping)
- Can't use any abilities bestowed by wargears with the exception of abilities bestowed by Retinues (Lord General). As far as I know this is the limitation with the engine itself.
- Space Marines will use the Drop Pod ability as a "bomb" not as a reinforcement.
- Lord General won't use the Heavy Turret ability because I could not find the rbf file for the ability. Any ideas?

Upcoming Retribution A.I v1.1

Hi all, I've been working on improving it for quite some time. I hope it will challenge players even more, with all new abilities and features. There are lots of tweaks and differences from the v1.0, such as :

- Better economy. The A.I now boasts adjusted economy and will reinforce more aggressively. Early game economy is markedly improved as it now intelligently selects between building upgrades, more units, or generators.
- Better unit selection. I've adjusted a lot of things and now it will build units more intelligently. Less vehicles overall.
- Better tactics. Overall slightly better tactics and (hopefully) better grouping of units. Note that units still behave on their own (this is a limitation of the scripting engine)
- Better use of player abilities. Now will call Terminators and Venerable Dreadnoughts as Space Marine. Only Lord General is still bugged (no Super Turret drops yet).
- Less chance for setup teams to move around too quickly.
- The A.I no longer has any mercy. Normally with the standard A.I they will switch to defense mode when they have enough territory and VP, but now they'll continue capping points until 100%.

Bugfixes :
- No more spore mines built.
- Heroes switching around wargears all the time (with bought wargears)

Known bugs :
- Can't repair effectively
- Can't worship (the game crashes everytime I tried to make cultists worship)
- Can't infiltrate (same case as worshipping)

Stay tuned.

Some bugs spotted

I've caught some bugs on my A.I, and improved the tactics/targetting as well. Stay tuned for an update.

List of known bugs :
- Spore Mines won't move. This is related to Dawn of War II's engine, and so far I have no means to influence this. As well, it seems that the standard "unit-chooser" can't be influenced NOT to build those. I've set their priority to even negative and that artificial stupidity still builds them!
- Can't repair vehicles. Vehicles are still stupid in general and the A.I's inability to repair them makes them suck even more. Vehicles can't retreat and so are suicidal units.
- Abilities bestowed from wargear can't be used by heroes. More of a limitation from the game engine itself.

List of improvements so far :
- The A.I's units will work as a pseudo-team now. They're still individually minded, although by some trickery I could get them to attack a single point at once. Still leaves some squads unassigned/idle sometimes though.
- Suppression teams' priority is reduced, especially IG Heavy Weapons Squad which are bugged right now.

Recommendations :
Play vs Easy if you want to learn the game. You'll almost always win vs Easy.
Play vs Hard if you want a fair challenge. The A.I will go all out and play fairly. This is the difficulty that I fine tune my A.I most often on.
Play vs Expert if you are a masochist/very good player. FYI Expert computers gets 2x resources by default.

Zycat A.I for Retribution download link

So, as promised, here's the link to my Dawn of War II - Retribution A.I

It has the economy and unit selection of a good player and the tactics and strategies of a monkey. I wish the language were more flexible in allowing me to affect individiual unit tactics as well as group behavior. It's definitely much better than the standard A.I though, so for any of you comp-stompers out there that wants a bigga' challenge, look no further.
